We are delighted to be joined by Spokesperson Alastair Smith, Jackpot Business Owner at Relax Gaming, today, as we get to learn more about the iconic Dream Drop Jackpot network.
Q1: For anyone reading who hasn’t come across Dream Drop before, what exactly is Dream Drop, and what do you feel separates it from the dozens of other progressive jackpot networks out there?
Dream Drop is the market’s most frequent millionaire-maker: it drops ~€1.9M prizes every few weeks. Created with the aim of shaking up the jackpot market, it offers 3 must-drop levels, attractive visuals, and a super-high 75% reseed value to keep excitement high.
Dream Drop was, above all, designed to give players frequent chances of winning life-changing sums of money, and there’s no other progressive jackpot product on the market offering Dream Drop’s mix of high-value jackpots with the must-drop mechanic.
Q2: Dream Drop is about to turn four, and if you think back to 2022, what was the creative “spark” behind it? Was there a specific gap in the market you wanted to fill?
We’d seen the popularity of both must-drop jackpots and high-ticket progressives, but no one was doing both in the one product! The longer-term progressives offered great sums of money, but players knew there was going to be a long time between drops, so they lacked incentive to play. The must-drops offered quicker turnaround but lacked the appeal of a truly monumental sum of money.
Dream Drop launched and immediately started giving players Mega drops at a frequency that even caught us a little by surprise. The launch was at a perfect time when there was a real demand from players to get more action, and the market continues to demand such. To stay ahead of this, we launched some updates to Dream Drop last year, where, along with adding a new layer of jackpot, the Daily, we set the must-drop level of the Mega at €2M, ensuring an even quicker turn-around between Mega drops. And it’s worked: so far this year, we’ve had more Mega drops than there have been months, which is a pretty incredible claim to fame!
Q3: Dream Drop jackpots have six tiers: Rapid at one end and Mega at the other. This has become quite recognisable for Relax Gaming . What was the thinking behind this format, rather than using, say, a simple three-tier setup or a single progressive jackpot?
Dream Drop’s excitement lies not only in the frequency of the drops of the biggest jackpots but also in the smaller ones. To stand out from the crowd in a saturated jackpot space, we needed to make sure Dream Drop was something special, and that’s why we have more levels than standard.
Players enter jackpot rounds much more frequently than with jackpots with only three tiers. With six, there are more jackpot prizes to win, and players experience the excitement of a jackpot win that much more.
Q4: Dream Drop started as an in-house mechanic and has grown into a large network, now available in a huge number of Relax’s games + some Silver Bullet partner titles, too. How has watching it scale so much across different studios and genres changed the way you think about Dream Drop internally, versus how you pictured it at launch?
Of course, we always pictured Dream Drop as the success it is, but having our Silver Bullet partners creating games for the Dream Drop product is fantastic and goes to show that it’s not just the Relax studio seeing the value in Dream Drop and the never-ending waves of player activity but partner studios too. Seeing Dream Drop boast an impressive selection of 50+ different games over an incredible six strong studios is a great feeling and really helps solidify the feeling that we’ve got it right.
Q5: What have been your most memorable moments in the four years since Dream Drop? Was there perhaps a specific win that gave you a “we really did it” feeling? Or was there a challenge you had to overcome that you feel helped turn the mechanic into what it’s become today?
Although I wasn’t here for it, I think one of the most memorable moments was the launch of the product with the game Temple Tumble 2. I say that not as a corny answer but because the continuous love that Dream Drop players have for this game shows that it’s still a very important moment to them.
For me, in my role as Jackpot Business Owner, the most memorable moment was when the last €3M Mega dropped on the 9th May 2025 and, within minutes, we launched the biggest and most complex update to the product since its launch, where we rolled out our new Daily Jackpots and simultaneously lowered the Mega threshold to €2M so that we could create more winning moments for our players and operators.
We’ve now hit a landmark of 30 MEGA winners in less than four years, and that is both an amazing claim and a testament to everyone involved along the way in making Dream Drop the best jackpot on the market.
Q6: From a design and operator perspective, Dream Drop has to balance a lot at once, right? Ensuring the Mega climbs fast enough to keep it exciting and making the jackpots drop enough so that it feels real and exciting for players, while leaving commercial room for operators. How do you actually take these factors into account when you’re planning/refining it?
There’s definitely a balance to strike, and internally we often look at it as a kind of golden triangle between the player experience, operator value and the overall momentum of the Dream Drop network. From the player side, the jackpot needs to feel active, visible and attainable. If a jackpot never drops, it can start to feel more like a myth than a genuine opportunity, but if it drops too often, it risks losing some of its impact.
From an operator perspective, Dream Drop also has to make commercial sense. By aggregating liquidity across Relax’s own portfolio and selected Silver Bullet partner titles, we can generate the volume needed to keep the Mega climbing at a strong pace, which helps prevent it from feeling stagnant. The hard ceiling is another important part of the model, because knowing the jackpot must pay out before a certain point creates a natural marketing crescendo for operators.
Q7: Finally, if you could give CasinoTrackpot readers, many of whom now follow our live Dream Drop tracker, one tip for getting the best experience out of a Dream Drop game, what would it be?
Keep an eye on when the jackpots (both the Mega and the Major!) get super hot (90% of the guaranteed fallout). That moment will come about every few weeks with the Mega and every few days with the Major! The live jackpot ticker shows you exactly where the jackpots currently stand. And remember, it’s a ‘must-win’ jackpot, so you need to be in it to win it!
