Relax Gaming caught up with Kaveh Emami about his recent move from Head of Data & Analytics to Chief Growth Officer.

Kaveh talks about all things Relax, what it was that led him to the position and how he intends to help drive the company forward even further since his internal appointment in September.

Firstly, congratulations on being appointed as the new Chief Growth Officer at Relax. How are you finding the transition so far?

KE: Thank you, it feels fantastic! It’s been a whirlwind in the best possible way. The team has been utterly exceptional in their support, and I feel incredibly humbled by the opportunity.

What has made the transition smoother is the fact that I’ve worked closely with both the commercial and marketing departments during my time at Relax Gaming. That familiarity definitely helps when stepping into a broader role like this.

That said, there are areas I’m still exploring in more depth, and I enjoy the process of delving into them, asking questions, connecting dots, and truly understanding how we can keep moving things forward together.

For those who don’t know you, tell us a little more about your background and what led you to this position.

KE: Before joining Relax Gaming about a year and a half ago as Head of Data & Analytics, I was Chief Technology Officer at a Nordic media publishing group. That role provided me with a strong foundation in tech strategy and leadership.

Before that, I worked on an intriguing project with a major grocery retailer, helping them optimise their promotional spend, which resulted in an impressive £50 million increase in sales, demonstrating how data and insights can deliver real business impact.

Going back even further, I spent nearly a decade working as a professional poker player. It might sound like an unusual detour, but it taught me a lot about reading patterns, making decisions under pressure, and thinking strategically, all of which have become unexpectedly valuable in my career today.

It is undoubtedly an eclectic background, but it offers me a unique perspective, something I intend to bring into this new role.

As CGO, what are your primary targets and aspirations for the next 12 months?

KE: One of my primary goals is to enhance collaboration between our marketing, commercial, and Data & Analytics teams. We have a lot to learn from one another; although we already have a solid foundation, there is significant potential for further growth and development.

As my title suggests, I am focused on growth, not just in the traditional business sense, but also in how we function as a team and how we deliver value. By this time next year, I want us to reflect on the changes we've made and recognise the tangible impact they have had. Our efforts should lead to smart, sustainable growth across the board.

What was it about this opportunity that excited you most about making the move to CGO?

KE: What truly attracted me to the role was the chance to connect everything, bringing together the work we do across marketing, commercial, and data into a unified direction.

Each of these functions already produces excellent results on its own, but when aligned with a shared strategy and clear objectives, we can become even more effective. That challenge, and the opportunity it presents, is something I find incredibly exciting.

How much are you looking forward to working more closely with Martin and the rest of the executive team?

KE: A lot. I’ve been deeply impressed by the executive team from day one, not just their individual capabilities but also the way they collaborate. There’s a genuine sense of unity, ambition, and supportiveness throughout the group.

Martin has done an exceptional job building a team of highly capable leaders who are also kind, humble, and willing to roll up their sleeves when necessary. It’s rare to find such a balance, and I feel genuinely fortunate to be working more closely with them now. It’s an environment where great things can happen.
